Life’s Too Short to Wake Up with Regrets

At Bree’s Legacy, we hold onto words that remind us how precious life really is. One of our favorites comes from Dr. Seuss:
"Life's too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it."
These words feel like they were written with Bree in mind—because she lived them every single day.
Living Without Regret
Regret steals joy from today. Bree taught us that every single day is a gift, and what matters most is how we use it. Whether it’s laughing with friends, making memories with family, or helping someone in need, the moments we choose to embrace can change lives—not only ours, but the lives of others too.
Loving the Right People
It’s easy to get caught up in who’s not cheering us on, but life becomes brighter when we pour our love and energy into the people who lift us up. Bree lived this truth—surrounding herself with people who shared her laughter, her dreams, and her kindness. Loving the right people creates a ripple effect that keeps giving long after we’re gone.
Bree loved with her whole heart. Family, friends, teammates—she made sure people knew they mattered. When we think of her, it isn’t things that come to mind, but how she made us feel: seen, loved, and cherished. Life is too short not to tell people how much they mean to us, and Bree’s story is our daily reminder to love out loud.
The Gentle Gift of Forgiveness
Holding onto hurt only keeps us stuck. Forgiveness isn’t easy, but neither is carrying the weight of hurt. Bree had a way of letting go of the small things, choosing peace over bitterness. Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting; it means freeing ourselves to keep moving forward. Living her legacy means practicing that same grace—offering forgiveness where we can, and choosing love over regret.
Finding Purpose in the Unimaginable
Losing Bree changed everything. The ache of her absence is something we carry always. And yet, her story also shows us how beauty can grow from heartbreak. Through her gift of organ donation, Bree gave others a second chance at life. What once felt like an ending has become a powerful reminder that “everything happens for a reason”—even if that reason takes time to understand.
Taking Chances, Making Memories
Bree never waited for “someday.” She said yes to adventures, laughter, late-night talks, and the little moments that became priceless memories. Dr. Seuss reminds us: “If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it.” That’s exactly how Bree lived—fearless in joy, unafraid to embrace what was in front of her.
Living the Legacy
Carrying Bree’s Legacy is more than hosting events or raising awareness—it’s a way of life. It’s choosing to love deeply, forgive freely, trust the journey, and embrace opportunities, just as Bree did. Every 5K we run, every kickball game we play, every child we help—it all continues the story Bree started with her love and her courage.
💙 Today, we invite you to reflect:
Who can you remind today that they are loved?
What forgiveness could free your heart?
What chance could you take that may change your life—or someone else’s?
Life’s too short to wake up with regrets. Let’s love more, forgive more, and live more—just like Bree did.
